Halloween Sex Offender Crackdown

On October 30 and October 31, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office Sex Offender Compliance and Awareness Unit (CAP Unit) and Warrants Division will be conducting address verifications of registered child predators throughout Calcasieu Parish.

In an effort to insure the safety of the community, the CAP Unit verifies the offender's address, place of employment, and vehicles on a monthly basis. The primary mission of this operation is to ensure that registered sex offenders are in compliance with statues regulating residency, identification and those statues prohibiting activities during the Halloween season. Sex offenders are prohibited from wearing a mask, hood, or disguise during Halloween. They are also prohibited from distributing candy during Halloween.

The CPSO CAP Unit and the Warrants Division of the Sheriff's Office has made contact with the registered sex offenders in Calcasieu Parish to remind them of the La. State laws regarding sex offenders wearing masks and giving candy to children during Halloween. Offenders were also given an orange sign to post on their residence stating "NO CANDY AT THIS RESIDENCE."
