If you think all parades are the same, some of those in Opelousas will tell you that's a myth and the Half-Fast Krewe is living proof of it.
In St. Landry Parish, it's a tradition to chase the chicken then go to the parade in Opelousas. Unlike anywhere else, parade goers say Opelousas has just the right mixture of city-life and country traditions.
The costumes are also unique; everything from chicken costumes to cowboys, a deer-skin vest, and even a State Senator wearing a traditional Turkish robe. If that's not unique enough, try dancing in the street after the parade has passed.
All those ingredients bring together the recipe for the largest parade in St. Landry Parish.
