A B.E. Boudreaux Middle School student was arrested this morning after disclosure that he had a handgun in his book locker. The student allegedly intended to sell the weapon to another student.
No further information is available at this time as this incident remains actively under investigation by law enforcement and the School Board.
B.E. Boudreaux Middle School immediately invoked the Parish Crisis Response Plan. School personnel, central office personnel and local law enforcement personnel provided campus security and supervision.
All campuses and grounds of the St. Mary Parish School Board are designated "firearm free" which prohibits the carrying of firearms on school grounds. Board policy requires that the student shall be suspended from school pending a disciplinary hearing.
