PORT FOURCHON, La. (AP) - The Louisiana National Guard says
several guard members were taken to a hospital for observation
after an accident involving a troop-carrying truck.
The accident happened Saturday morning on Louisiana Highway 1
near Port Fourchon. Col. Mike Deville says the truck left the road
and wound up on its side.
DeVille estimated that as many as six guard members were taken
to a hospital for observation but no serious injuries were
reported.
Deville said a mechanical problem with the truck may have caused
the accident.
Guardsmen have been working in the Port Fourchon area on
projects related to the BP oil spill.
