THIBODAUX, La. (AP) - Nicholls State University says ground has been broken for a new 33,000-square-foot facility for the Chef John Folse Culinary Institute.
Gov. Bobby Jindal, Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne, Folse and others participated in a groundbreaking ceremony earlier this week.
Nicholls says the $12.6 million facility will accommodate about 500 students. It will allow the culinary program to grow in size and scope by expanding course offerings. Construction is expected to begin in May and the facility is expected to open within two years.
The project is funded with $8.1 million in state funds and $4.5 million in private donations raised by Nicholls.
