GRETNA, La. (AP) - Leslie Leblanc, a former teller with the Jefferson Parish Employees Federal Credit Union was arrested for allegedly stealing $31,000.
The Times-Picayune reports that the 24-year-old River Ridge woman was booked Wednesday with theft.
Vicki O'Brien, president and chief financial officer to the credit union, says they performed a surprise cash count on Tuesday as part of its auditing procedures.
Officials say that when questioned by detectives. Leblanc, who worked for the credit union for five years, admitted taking $31,000 over a 10 month period. She says she used it at casinos and to pay bills.
It was unclear on Friday if Leblanc had an attorney.
O'Brien says no customer accounts were affected by the theft.
