Greenbriar Prairie Basse Water System issues boil advisory

The Greenbriar Prairie Basse Water System is issuing a boil advisory effective immediately as a precaution following problems experienced with the water supply system. Due to prolonged low water pressure, the water produced by the water supply system is of questionable microbiological quality.

It is recommended that all consumers living within the Greenbriar Prairie Basse Water System area disinfect their water before consuming it. This includes fountain drinks and actions such as making ice, brushing teeth and preparing and rinsing food. Consumers should boil the water for one full minute in a clean container, with the minute starting after the water has been brought to a rolling boil.

The Greenbriar Prairie Basse Water System will rescind this boil advisory upon notification from the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals Office of Public Health that additional water samples collected from the water supply system are shown to be safe. Until then, the boil advisory is to remain in effect.
