Grand Jury Indicts a Man in Double Stabbing

MANSFIELD, La. - A DeSoto grand jury has indicted a
35-year-old Mansfield man in connection with the Aug. 8 stabbing deaths of his estranged wife and her sister.
The grand jury returned two counts of first-degree murder Monday against Stephen Rivers.
Rivers is being held in the DeSoto Detention Center without bond.
District Attorney Richard Johnson intends to seek the death penalty in Rivers' case.
Rivers is accused in the deaths of 25-year-old Diana Knight Rivers and 24-year-old Virginia Knight.
Diana Rivers died at the scene; Knight died later at a Shreveport hospital.
It was not immediately known whether Stephen Rivers has an attorney.
