GRAMBLING, La. (AP) - Grambling State University president Horace Judson is resigning because of "family reasons," effective next week, the University of Louisiana System said Wednesday.
Judson was hired in 2004. The UL System announcement said his tenure saw new admissions standards, higher ACT scores for incoming freshmen and creation of a new science and technology center. His resignation takes effect Oct. 31.
"I believe that this is a good juncture for me to complete my tenure and focus on my family," Judson said in the system's news release.
UL System president Randy Moffett said Judson had been planning to leave the school at some point "to explore other career options" but decided to leave now, in the middle of a semester,
because of "a close family member's illness," according to the news release.
