GRAMBLING, La. (AP) - Saggy pants in the city of Grambling may become a costly fashion statement.

The Grambling City Council passed an ordinance last week making indecent exposure -- the showing of undergarments and underwear -- illegal.

Failure to comply may result in fines of $150 to $500, community service, and even time in jail.

Grambling State University's vice president of student affairs Stacey Duhon said indecent exposure and sagging aren't big issues on campus and the university has handled it without stringent penalties.

Duhon said the university dress code policy was updated in 2009 to include issues related to showing undergarments and sagging so Grambling State students understand what the university expects.
