TALLULAH, La. (AP) - Gov. Bobby Jindal tells The News-Star St. John Enterprises, a Louisiana barge manufacturer, will open a facility at the Madison Parish Port that will eventually employ more than 400 people.
Jindal will make the official announcement at the port Monday, when he will also present details of the incentive package the state used to lure the company.
The governor told the paper St. John will take over the facility that had been occupied by shipbuilder Northrop Grumman, which has been idle since last fall when it left the plant and eliminated 95 jobs.
Jindal said St. John will invest $32 million to upgrade the facility.
