"Go Cup" ordinance is up for final adoption tonight

The "so-called go cup" ordinance is up for final adoption at tonight's Lafayette City Parish Council meeting.

It would prohibit possession of open alcohol containers, and public consumption of alcohol in the Downtown District, Simcoe-Surrey Street Corridor and the Mckinley Street Strip.

Lafayette police hope the ordinance will keep the crowds in those areas in check.
KATC recently went along with police as they patrolled the streets on a weekend night. Although there were no major issues, there were a few fights and other arrests. Still, police say they're prepared for anything.
