Two Acadiana favorites are representing Louisiana's music scene on network television Monday night. The Givers will perform on Late Night Jimmy Fallon and Marc Broussard will be on Lopez Tonight. KATC sat down with close friends of both groups at Dockside Studio Monday to talk about just how far both Broussard and the Givers have come..
Not long ago the Givers were just a couple of young musicians exploring the music scene around Lafayette. But tonight, this new Indie rock band will take the stage on NBC's Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to perform their popular single "Up Up Up" for millions of viewers.
"The Givers are the latest and greatest thing in Lafayette. They are much bigger than Lafayette, they are the deal," said Steve Nails, owner of Dockside Studio in Maurice.
But the Givers aren't the only ones making waves on network television. Well-known and popular blues artist Marc Broussard will also represent Acadiana on Lopez Tonight.
Both bands have packed the house at smaller venues around Lafayette and Acadiana. But Nails said it's their hard work and unique sounds that catapulted them to the national stage.
"They worked really hard. They're not going to be on Jimmy Fallon tonight because they're lucky, they worked for it," said Nails.
Nails and his wife Cezanne were beaming with pride Monday. They're not only good friends with Broussard and the Givers, they helped shape both groups' most recent albums at their secluded Dockside Studio.
"Oh yeah, [I'm excited] to watch them. Marc is just a friend for life, he's part of the Dockside family," said Nails.
The Givers will be on NBC's Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, which starts at 11:35 p.m.. Broussard will perform on TBS's Lopez Tonight, which begins at 12:00 a.m. Both are promoting newly released albums Monday night as well.
