The Lafayette Parish Girl Scouts have collected at total of 1, 285 pairs of shoes which, according to Brent Barkin, Vice-President of Shoe Station, is more than all 17 combined stores across the nation.
In Lafayette Parish, Girl Scouts took part in the "Soles 4 Souls" project.
They've been collecting gently used shoes for those in need over the past few days.
The group spent Wednesday morning getting the donations ready for pickup at Ascension Episcopal School.
Their goal is to collect 5,000 pairs of shoes.
All shoes will be donated to several charities in time for Thanksgiving.
