Getting Humid

Another pleasant summer morning in Acadiana with temperatures in the upper 60s and lower 70s. Skies are mostly clear. There's a stationary front draped just offshore and low pressure over northeast Texas. That low will deepen helping to pull the front northward so humidity levels will be increasing on southeasterly winds by this afternoon.

The low will drift southeastward bringing a slight chance for showers and storms later this afternoon, but as the system gets closer Friday, showers and storms will become likely. It appears the front and the low will stall a bit early this weekend, so chances for rain will continue on and off for the weekend. Most of the storms will be with daytime heating during the afternoon. Normal for the summer time months.

Down the road it appears the front will wash out, so gradually the coverage of storms will diminish by the early part of next week. Temperatures are expected to be near normal with highs in the low 90s and lows in the 70s.

The tropical disturbance southeast of the Windward Islands doesn't look so great this morning. The National Hurricane Center still has about a 60% chance for development, but its southerly location and interaction with wind shear and dry air may have it struggling for a few days.
