Georgia man booked in Crowley for alleged cigarette theft ring

A Thursday afternoon incident in Crowley led to the bust of an alleged cigarette theft ring.

According to Crowley Police Chief KP Gibson, officers have been investigating an unauthorized use of an access card complaint in which the suspect had purchased a large quantity of cigarettes.

Officers responded to a local business on North Parkerson Avenue near 15th Street. Upon arrival officer encountered the suspect, who fled on foot.

After a foot pursuit, officers located and recovered a large quantity of cigarettes in a vehicle in which the suspect was riding.

"We are working with several local agencies to determine the depth of this operation," Gibson said.

Jeremy Ingram, 23, of Savannah, Ga. Ingram was booked into the Acadia Parish Jail on felony theft charges and resisting arrest. He is being held on outstanding warrants for Lafayette Parish.
