SULPHUR, La. (AP) - Waste collection charges could be reduced for residents of Sulphur.
The American Press reports the City Council has accepted a bid for waste collection from Progressive Waste Services that would cut the current rate for the service.
The council also introduced an ordinance to set garbage/trash collection fees at $14.39 per unit per month. Mayor Chris Duncan says that's a reduction of $2.50 per month.
The ordinance will be voted on when the council meets in June.
The council also introduced ordinances that would set water and sewer fees. Each of those feed would see a slight increase. The water fee would rise by 25 cents per month and the sewer fees by $1 per month.
