There will be no garbage or recycling collection on New Year's day. Regular Friday customers in the city of Lafayette and unincorporated areas of Lafayette Parish will receive service the Saturday following New Year. Allied Waste will also pick up excess garbage and large boxes outside of the automated garbage cart on all customers' first service day following New Year. Excess garbage must be bagged, and should not be placed in cardboard boxes. Yard waste collection is suspended until Monday, January 11, at which time collection of clean, natural Christmas trees will begin.
