Funeral arrangements set for Jeanerette pilot killed in helicopter crash

Funeral services for Ken Squires, the Jeanerette crop duster pilot who was died Sunday in a helicopter crash, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16 at Delhomme Funeral Home in Lafayette.

Squires, 60, was a veteran aviator, flying planes since he was 17 and crop dusting since 1979. He was well known throughout Iberia Parish as former Iberia Parish Airport commissioner who also ran for state Senate in 2011.

He died after his Bell 47 helicopter crashed just north of U.S. Highway 90 in Iberia Parish. Squires was crop dusting sugar cane fields when the crash happened.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, Aug. 15 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and continue on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
