BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - The latest campaign fundraising reports
are due in the Louisiana lieutenant governor's race, offering a
glimpse of who's got the edge a month before the election.
The finance reports must be filed with the state ethics
administration office by Thursday.
Eight candidates are running in the Oct. 2 special election.
Among the candidates are Secretary of State Jay Dardenne, St.
Tammany Parish President Kevin Davis, state Sen. Butch Gautreaux,
country singer Sammy Kershaw and state Republican Party Chairman
Roger Villere.
By early Thursday, two candidates filed their reports, showing
less than $100,000 on hand between them. Davis' report shows he has
$33,600 in his campaign warchest, while Kershaw had $24,400 on
hand.
Gautreaux is the first candidate on TV for the campaign,
launching his ad this week.
