PORT ARTHUR, Texas (AP) - The Coast Guard has reopened the Sabine-Neches Waterway, about 10 hours after a fuel spill from a tugboat accident closed it to marine traffic south of the Intracoastal Waterway.
Coast Guard Petty Officer Nathan Rau says the channel reopened about 11:30 a.m. Thursday. He said no residual problems were reported.
The Coast Guard says the motor vessel King Yukon apparently hit the fishing vessel Capt. Scott at about 1:30 a.m. near Mesquite Point on the Sabine River. No injuries were reported.
Texas General Land Office oil spill division coordinator William Grimes says about 300 gallons of diesel fuel spilled.
