Free Virtual Public Charter school to hold information session in Lafayette

Louisiana Connections Academy, a fully accredited provider of high-quality, highly accountable virtual K-12 schooling, opened enrollment for the 2013-2014 school year on March 4, and enrollment sessions with parents and students have begun across the state.

"The good news is that we expect to have additional student seats, scattered across all grades, which will be open for the coming academic year," said Principal Caroline Wood. "Nevertheless, due to the fact we have a waiting list as we open enrollment, we encourage parents to get their applications in now."

There were 1,200 students enrolled in Louisiana Connections Academy for the 2012-2013 academic year. Parents can enroll their child online at:

Families may follow Connections Academy on Facebook and Twitter, watch videos on YouTube and read Virtual Learning Connections, the Connections Academy blog for families interested in supporting K-12 learning from home.

Louisiana Connections Academy Principal Wood encourages families considering virtual school to attend an information session because virtual education, while a great choice for many families, may not be a good fit for some. "Virtual school requires parents to make a commitment to be involved in their child's education," Principal Wood said. "At our information sessions, we let families know what they can expect in the virtual school setting, and what it takes to succeed. We want students to thrive at Connections Academy and understanding how it all works is essential."

Louisiana Connections Academy delivers top-quality, personalized K-12 education that combines certified teachers, a proven curriculum, technology tools, and community experiences to create a supportive and successful environment for children who benefit from an individualized approach to education.
