Health experts from the Heart Hospital of Lafayette (HHL) will offer free blood pressure screenings and cardiovascular risk assessments from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday (February, 16) at the Mall of Acadiana, near the Macy's wing. This is part of HHL's outreach efforts to mark February's National Heart Month. The goal is to raise awareness of heart disease and provide ways to prevent it. Participants will also receive tips about the prevention of heart disease and how to recognize the warning signs of a heart attack.
According to the Centers for Disease control and Prevention, heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women. Every year, approximately 935,000 Americans have a heart attack. HHL is an affiliate of Our Lady of Lourdes and is the cardiovascular center piece of the cardiac program providing unsurpassed heart care in two locations.
