Four men wanted for impersonating police

On February 18, 2010, at approximately 9:00 am, the victim reported that four men identifying themselves as police officers came to his apartment at 1400 North Bertrand Drive. The first male was white and approximately 6'3" and 200 lbs. He told the victim they had a report of drugs activity at his apartment and they needed to search it. Four men dressed in dark colored t-shirts, kaki pants and dress shoes entered the apartment and conducted a search. All of the suspects had badges hanging on chains around their necks. The three other suspects are described as two black males approximately 6' tall and one white male, approximately 6'2" tall. After not finding anything in the apartment, the suspect left the area without taking anything.

Detectives with the Lafayette Police Department have checked with all area law enforcement agencies and none were found to be conducting any operation in this specific apartment complex. Detectives believe the motive for the actions of the suspects was possibly drug related.

In the event an officer arrives at a citizen's residence in plain clothes, citizen's are asked to request a uniform officer be present or call the agency to confirm the activity. Anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the suspect is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
