ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) - A Fort Polk soldier was killed in an accidental shooting while hunting in the Kisatchie National Forest over the weekend.
The Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office on Thursday told The Town Talk Saturday's shooting left 30-year-old Louis Alamo dead.
The soldier and three Leesville residents were hunting raccoons in the forest next to Kincaid Lake about 9:40 p.m. The sheriff's office did not provide any further details on how the shooting occurred or information on Alamo's hometown.
Authorities say Alamo's body was sent to Lafayette for an autopsy.
