Former Water System Head Pleads Guilty to Environmental Charges

The former president of the Plaisance Development Corporation has pleaded guilty to 11 felony environmental violations. Joseph L. Jones admitted in court to knowingly exceeding discharge limits and not providing monitoring results for the facilities he operated in St. Landry Parish. Jones was sentenced to 18 months in jail. That term will run concurrently with a previous sentence on multiple violations at facilities in Evangeline Parish.
