The St. Tammany Parish School Board has upheld schools Superintendent Trey Folse's recommendation to fire a bus driver who did not promptly alert his supervisors of two drug-related arrests in the summer of 2011.
The board voted 9-0 Tuesday to essentially fire Robert Hesson, who hadn't driven a school bus for the district since the spring of 2011.
District officials said Hesson violated the district's collective bargaining agreement for employees after he was arrested twice in the summer of 2011 for crystal meth and Oxycodone possession in Picayune, Miss., and in St. Tammany Parish, and didn't tell his supervisors.
