CARLSBAD, Calif. (AP) - Former NFL star linebacker Junior Seau drove off an embankment in Southern California this morning and is hospitalized with minor injuries. The incident happened less than nine hours after he was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence.
Carlsbad police say the 12-time Pro Bowler's Cadillac SUV was found on a beach about 30 feet below the roadside. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
San Diego sheriff's Lt. Phil Brust says Seau was released from jail around 3:30 a.m., about five hours before the incident.
Seau played for the San Diego Chargers, Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots before retiring after last season.
