BOGALUSA, La. (AP) - Health problems had kept Jimmy Rhymes in
bed for days. But when his wife phoned to say former New Orleans
Saint Rickey Jackson was dropping by, he had a daughter help him to
the front porch - even though he thought his wife was kidding.
Or, as he told The Daily News on Wednesday, "I thought she was
Ann Rhymes had attended a fundraiser Saturday for Bogalusa
firefighters. Jackson - wearing his new Pro Football Hall of Fame
sport coat - was signing autographs and posing for photos with
Rhymes told sponsor Roger Sadhwani that her husband was a
longtime fan but couldn't attend because he was handicapped.
Sadhwani offered to ask if Jackson would stop at their house.
Jimmy Rhymes says they talked for about 10 minutes, and Jackson
took off his cap, signed it, and gave it to him.
