Former Monroe official gets 90-day jail sentence

MONROE, La. (AP) - Former city of Monroe Community Affairs director and mayoral candidate Johnny Riley has been sentenced to 90 days in the parish jail for not paying more than $22,000 owed in child support.
Riley was sentenced by state District Judge Carl Sharp on Friday.
District Attorney Jerry Jones said Riley owes around $22,000 in child support for two of his children.
Jones said Riley is required to pay $6,600 for the two counts of non-support in order to get out of jail. The money will go directly toward his child support payment.
According to an affidavit, Riley was on probation for non-support.
Sharp revoked the probation after he didn't comply.
