SATSUMA, La. (AP) - The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office says a former parish councilman and four other people were arrested on drug charges after a search turned up 1,700 prescription pain pills at the home of the former official.

Chief Deputy Jason Ard told WBRZ-TV on Thursday that deputies found Oxycodone pills in Robert Ringo's home in Satsuma on Sunday.

He says Ringo and 28-year-old Victoria Berthelot were booked with possessing drugs with intent to distribute them.

Ringo was released on $100,000 bond but re-arrested Thursday on additional charges, and his bond set at $260,500.

The others were booked with possessing drugs or possession with intent to distribute.

Ringo pleaded guilty in 2005 to failing to report $17,000 on his income tax. Prosecutors said it was a bribe.
