LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - A former state court judge has pleaded guilty to two counts of theft in 14th Judicial District Court.
62-year-old Greg Lyons of Lake Charles faced 13 counts, but pleaded guilty Friday to two counts of theft over $500 and was sentenced to five years' probation and ordered to pay $192,000 in restitution.
He must also attend gambling treatment.
Lyon served as judge for 18 years before returning to private practice in 2001.
He has five years to repay the money, although both Judge Clayton Davis and prosecutors said they wanted to see good-faith efforts to repay the money. Davis said the next six months would be a guideline.
