Environmental Compliance Solutions, LLC and owner Sid Hebert plead guilty to clean water act violation. Hebert, the former Iberia Parish Sheriff, agreed to cease operation of the wastewater treatment facility and will pay a $50,000 fine. Hebert also faces imprisonment of not more than one year.

Hebert was the on-site manager at ECS and admitted he was negligent in operation procedures at the company. According to the EPA and DEQ, wastewaters were bypassing the filtration system and were ultimately being discharged into the commercial canal in the Port of Iberia.

The Department of Justice and US Attorney Stephanie Finley said Hebert failed to maintain the required documentation, prepare reports and implement plans and perform proper testing as mandated by the permit.
