The former principal of Lee Street Alternative School school took the stand today. Darius Sias is charged with possession of cocaine, marijuana, three counts of carrying an illegal weapon, possession of counterfeit money, possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as perjury.
But there's a twist in the case, that deals with the deputy who arrested Sias. That deputy, Jerrel Tauzin, took the stand as a witness today, and is listed in as the arresting deputy in an Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office arrest report dated July 30th, 2008. But, in an arrest report from the sheriff's office just a few months later, Tauzin is listed as the "arrestee".
The former deputy was arrested and charged after it came to light that he was responsible for stealing from homes in both Iberia and Lafayette Parishes. Tauzin's rap sheet has already lead to one person asking for a retrial because of his involvement with the case. This case remains ongoing.
