LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - The U.S. Attorney's Office in Lafayette has charged the former executive director of the Church Point Housing Authority with embezzling more than $195,000.
In a bill of information filed in federal court Friday, Sarah Robert was charged with one count of embezzlement of government money.
Federal prosecutors say the theft occurred between January 2009 and January 2011.
Church Point Mayor Roger Boudreaux tells The Advocate (http://bit.ly/yTlPXl ) Robert stepped down after an audit discovered "a discrepancy in funding."
He said she held the post for at least 10 years without any problems.
It was unclear whether Robert had an attorney.
