Former Grambling mayor dies

GRAMBLING, La. (AP) - The former mayor of Grambling, John "Porky" Williams, has died.
Williams, who served as mayor from 1995-2002 and ran again for the office in 2010, died Sunday.
Barbara McIntyre, president of the Grambling Chamber of
Commerce, says she was notified of his death Monday. She did not know the cause.
McIntyre says Williams was a friend to everyone and didn't let politics get in the way of progress.
Williams was serving as Grambling's mayor when Ruston Mayor Dan Hollingsworth first took office. Hollingsworth told The Daily Leader that it was a shock to hear of Williams' death, which he
says is a big loss for the city of Grambling and Lincoln Parish.
