Florists Deliver Hundreds of Flowers on Valentine's Day

"Everyone is happy to get flowers it's like a surprise at the door,"said Jana Ahneman, owner of Flowerland of Lafayette.
Some say there's no better way to say I love you than with a bouquet of roses. It's one of the busiest days of the year for florists-- Flowerland of Lafayette started preparing two months ago.
"My office manager does all the routing, she's very organized and experienced. We have 3 people at the front, 3 people working the phones,7 designers in the back, plus all the drivers,"said Ahneman.
Ahneman says they'll make about 300 deliveries on Valentine's Day.They deliver more than just flowers, but also chocolates, balloons, stuffed animals, and even some special requests.
"One that comes up the most on Valentine's Day is do you have a black rose? Can you spray one green? They want to tint it or dye it or make it special,"said Ahneman.
Flowerland ordered over 4,000 roses in 12 different colors, but of course, the red rose is still the most popular. Once the flowers leave the refrigerated 48 foot long truck, they are organized and loaded up.
Lenny Benoit has been delivering flowers for Flowerland for 6 years. He's got it down to a science, delivering 35 bouquets today.
"I delivered mail for so long and I brought stuff people didn't want, but now I deliver flowers and make people happy. I should have been doing this for 40 years!"
