The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has Issued a Flood Warning for Evangeline Parish until 10:30 tonight. According to the NWS, areas that will experience flooding are Mamou, Turkey Creek, Ville Platte, Beaver, Duralde, and Reddell. A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
National Weather Service Lake Charles Radar indicated that Up to 4 Inches of Rain had Fallen across the southern portion of the parish, from roughly Duralde through Mamou and Reddell to Ville Platte to the parish line West of Grand Prairie. Another area of Heavy Rains, with amounts up to 5 Inches, was noted across the northern portions of the parish from Beaver to North of Turkey Creek to the parish line Southwest of Cheneyville.
The NWS says do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely. If you are in the warning area move to higher ground immediately. Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate precautions to protect life and property. Do not attempt to cross swiftly flowing waters or waters of unknown depth by foot or by automobile.
