Vermilion Parish School Superintendent Randy Schexnayder is taking his mission to Washington DC.
Today, he met with Senators Mary Landrieu and David Vitter to try to get FEMA funds to build a flood wall for E. Broussard Elementary in Forked Island.
After four years of no recess equipment for students, a packed playground is in place.
E. Broussard administrators say it's about time.
After all the hurricane damage, they're trying to hold on to what they have.
The levy would not only protect the school but the students as well.
The problem is getting FEMA's approval.
It's estimated to cost 1.2 to 1.4 million-dollars to complete..
Now, all they can do is wait.
