Five Lafayette massage parlors were raided today by the Lafayette Metro Narcotics Task Force as part of a prostitution sting.
Capt. John Babin of Metro Narcotics tells KATC that they checked the massage parlors because of "several complaints." They were scheduled to check seven, but two were closed.
A KATC viewer contacted us when they saw police raiding Fortune Asian Spa on Industrial Parkway. That's one of seven massage parlors that the Louisiana State Board of Massage Therapy issued cease-and-desist letters to this year. To see those letters, click here: https://www.labmt.org/site464.php
You'll recall back in May, we profiled six massage parlors who were not licensed as part of a KATC Investigation. After we brought our findings to the Louisiana State Board of Massage Therapy, asking for answers on who was regulating them, seven massage parlors in Lafayette were issued cease-and-desist letters.
Babin couldn't say if those establishments were targeted or how many people were arrested today, but he said details would be released tomorrow.
