It's the start of the new shrimping season in Louisiana, the first since the BP Oil Well was capped. KATC connected with a shrimper, "Big Al" Granger, who reports the rough waves and the weather forecast are making the first day back on the water a rough one.
Big's Al wife, Cheryl, checks in with him by cell phone or radio every few hours for an update and so far the shrimp looks small, but no oil and no chemicals in sight.
An estimated 5,000 commercial fishermen are back in business now that the season has started-- those who aren't shrimping are likely still contracting for BP.
