GRAND ISLE, La. (AP) - West Jefferson Medical Center has set up
a first-aid tent on Grand Isle to treat oil spill workers, and the
federal government has sent a mobile medical unit to Venice.
West Jeff spokeswoman Taslin (TAHZ-lin) Alfonzo says the
hospital's tent will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a
week, with a doctor, two emergency medical workers and a nurse
practitioner. It's in the Parish emergency management compound.
Authorites announced later Monday that a unit from the federal
National Disaster Medical System had arrived in Venice. It will be
staffed by a doctor, two nurses, two emergency medical technician
paramedics and a pharmacist.
