Youngsville celebrated it's 9th Annual Independence Celebration. The free event had face painting, pony rides, boating and more, all leading up to the fireworks. And when you think of the 4th of July, fireworks are the one image that probably pops into your head. For Brian Guilbeau, it's a passion that's set off a pretty impressive career. "Yes I'm the operator I've done Sugar Mill Pond since it's started, so I'm the only one who's shot this show here", says Guilbeau.
Unlike other pyrotechnics companies, Guilbeau's is built from the ground up. Instead of buying the equipment needed for the displays, he builds them by hand. Which has lead to a pretty impressive track record when it comes to safety. "But for 15 years, everybody's been safe and we've never had any incidents. That's the main purpose behind this. If you have an accident, it doesn't matter how much money you've put into the show. It's a disaster", Guilbeau. With 400 lbs. Of explosives and a crowd that gets bigger every year, the challenge for Guilbeau and his crew gets a little tougher, But, the man with his trigger on the finger says there's nothing quite like seeing a job well done go up in smoke.a
