LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - Fire investigators are hoping to find the cause of a blaze that gutted a Lafayette's Recycling Foundation recycling plant.

The two-alarm fire was reported at 4:50 p.m. Saturday, when the business was closed. No one was injured.

Officials tell The Advertiser the fire appears to have started in one of the plant's three metal buildings. By the time crews arrived, the blaze, fueled largely by large bales of cardboard boxes and other recyclables, had quickly spread.

The roof of one building collapsed. The roof of a second partially caved in.

Steven Cheatham, regional manager for the plant, said none of the facility's trucks were damaged in the fire, and that service would not be disrupted.
