HOUMA, La. (AP) - An early morning fire has heavily damaged St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Houma.
The Courier reports streets in the downtown area were closed to traffic as firefighters continued to try to extinguish the blaze, which is believed to have started around 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
Classes at the school associated with the church were canceled.
Cause of the fire has not been determined.
