BATON ROUGE, La (AP) - The Louisiana House is expected to soon take up Gov. Bobby Jindal's proposed makeover of Louisiana public education.
The bills toughen teacher tenure requirements, establish a statewide voucher program for private school tuition and make many other changes to public education. They won the Senate's approval on Wednesday.
The House had already approved the bills and now must vote on whether to accept Senate language changes. "Yes" votes would send the bills to Jindal's desk. Rejection of the amendments would send the bills to compromise committees. The House could consider the amendments Thursday morning.
