Filé closes the Fall 2009 Downtown Alive! Series with the traditional November 25 performance
Lafayette, La.- A community tradition for 26 years and a popular staple in Acadiana's cultural and social calendar, Downtown Alive! (DTA!) finishes the Fall 2009 season with a DTA! tradition, on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 in Parc Sans Souci with a special performance by Filé. This performance includes the lighting of the official city Christmas tree and Toys for Tots.
Downtown Alive! favorite, Filé, once again closes out the Fall series with the reunion of band members David Egan, piano and vocals; Ward Lormand; accordion and vocals; D'Jalma Garnier, fiddle, guitar and vocals; Kevin Shearin, bass and vocals; and Danny Kimball, drums. Filé has played Thanksgiving eve for at least 12 years running and is once again reuniting this longtime touring band. Filé broke up in 2001 after 20 years as a touring band. Their raucous fusion of traditional Cajun/creole instruments with honky tonk piano helped to set them apart, making them a favorite to many. This tradition on Thanksgiving eve is a great way to start the holidays.
The DTA! Fall 2009 series bring great entertainment in the form of free, family-friendly, outdoor concerts to downtown Lafayette. From legendary, New Orleans performers to Lafayette‘s own legends and favorites, DTA! features the best of Blues, R & B, Zydeco, Cajun, Rock and variety.
