BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Authorities are investigating the
discovery of a human fetus in a Baton Rouge sewage pump.
A spokeswoman for the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's office said
workers found the estimated 20-week-old fetus in a pump in the
median of GSRI Avenue on Monday morning.
Don Moreau, chief of operations for the parish coroner's office,
said the male fetus apparently was born alive but not at a "viable
weight" that would have allowed it to survive.
Detectives were investigating how the fetus wound up in the
pump.
