This year for the first time, Festivals Acadiens et Créoles will feature a kiosk of books written in French by Louisiana authors. The kiosk will offer for sale publications by authors such as Barry Ancelet, William Arceneaux, David Cheramie, Debbie Clifton, Kirby Jambon, May Waggoner and others. The authors will be on site to autograph their works and to read from them. Publishing houses feature include Editions du Tintamarre, University Press of Louisiana, LSU Press and University of Mississippi Press.
The kiosk was formed in order to publicize the activities of Louisiana authors who publish in French. Some nineteenth-century works will be offered, but the focus is on the renaissance of literary work by authors of the twenty-first century.
The kiosk will be located next door to the Official Festival Merchandise tent by the Scène Ma Louisiane stage, on the Festival grounds in Girard Park, from Saturday to Sunday, October 12-13, 2013.
It is organized by Le Centre International de Lafayette, Alliance Française de Lafayette, and La Fondation Louisiane, with the full support of Festivals Acadiens et Créoles, Codofil, Editions du Tintamarre and the UL Department of Modern Languages.
