Thousands of tourists from across the world are flocking to the Hub City for Festival International de Louisiane and that means big bucks for Acadiana.
"It's my favorite time of year. All my friends from college are home and the weather is perfect! It's good to have the great food and the music is fantastic."
Laurie Meuleman is originally from Lafayette and lives in Seattle. Like thousands of others, she says she wouldn't miss Festival for anything and comes every year.
"It's the best to of year to be in Lafayette."
For five days the Hub City plays host to the world's best music festival, giving tourist the opportunity to see what Lafayette is all about.
"We're a world class city and we're showing off that we are," said Gerald Breaux, Executive Director of the Lafayette Visitors and Convention Center.
Thomas Tetting and his wife came all the way from New Mexico.
"We're festival fanatics! We love to travel and we love this one the most!"
Over the course of Festival, more than 300,000 people are expected to take part in the festivities.
"I'm always happy to help out the economy of my hometown, Lafayette was a great place to grow up," said Meuleman.
"We've headed down to New Iberia and St. Martinville."
The Tetting's say the best part of festival is that it is free.
"We've enjoyed having the little bit of spare change to spend other places."
For all those visiting they say they can't wait to bring their friends here next year.
